# My quote still shows my old prices. How do I update it?

Short answer: **a quote keeps the version of your database it was built on.** Saving new prices makes a new version of the database. A quote you already have stays on its version until you load the new one with **Load Database**, then click **Save Quoting**.

**Bring a quote onto your latest prices**

1. Open the job and go to **Instant Quoting**
2. Read the database version in the footer
3. Click **Load Database** and click your database's row
4. Click **Save Quoting** to keep it

### Check which version a quote is on

Open the job and go to **Instant Quoting**. The footer shows your database name and its version (1). The **Quoting Version** on the right (2) is the quote's own save count. Ignore it here: read the database version.

### Load the latest version

| | Step |
| --- | --- |
| 1 | Click **Load Database** (1) at the top right |
| 2 | In **Load Costing Database**, find the database your team quotes from. Each row shows its version and when it was last saved. Not sure which one? Ask your company admin |
| 3 | Click the row itself (1) |
| 4 | Check the footer now shows the new version |
| 5 | Click **Save Quoting** (2) to keep it |

![Instant Quoting toolbar with Load Database marked 1 and Save Quoting marked 2, and the More menu open showing Save Database marked 3, Quoting Versions and Revisions](https://help.shedmate.com.au/hubfs/Shedmate%20Guides/D-01__02-more-menu__marked.png)

![Load Costing Database window: picking up a costing database here will update the prices on your current quoting. The database row marked 1 shows Version 72 and the last saved date, with the earlier versions icon marked 2 and the archive icon marked 3](https://help.shedmate.com.au/hubfs/Shedmate%20Guides/D-01__03-load-costing-database__marked.png)

If you skip **Save Quoting**, the new prices show on screen but are not kept. The quote goes back to its old version next time you open it.

**Click the row, not the small icons on its right.** The first icon (2) shows earlier versions. The second (3) archives the database.

**Loading brings in the whole database.** It updates prices, and it brings in items, calculations and virtual items added since. If you changed a price in this quote only, check it again after loading. The shed itself does not change: sizes, framing, doors and openings stay as they are.

If an item showed as not quantified because its price was missing, and the price has since been added to your database, loading is the step that brings it through.

### Before you click Save Database

**Save Database** is in the **More** menu (3). It saves this quote's copy of your database as a new version for your whole team. It does not combine changes. If your quote is on an older version, saving it over a newer database removes the newer changes.

Example: your database is on version 38 and your quote is still on version 32. You fix a price and click **Save Database**. ShedMate saves version 39 from your copy of version 32, so the changes made in versions 33 to 38 are not in the latest version.

| | Check first |
| --- | --- |
| 1 | Click **Load Database**. Read your database's version number. Don't click the row. Close the window |
| 2 | Compare it with the version in the footer. If the footer number is lower, load the latest version first, then make your change |
| 3 | Click **Save Database** only when the two numbers match. If others on your team save too, check again just before you click |
| 4 | Changed only this one quote? Click **Save Quoting** instead. It saves the quote and leaves your database alone |
| 5 | Not sure? Click **New Costing Database** (2) to save under a new name instead of a new version |

![Saving Costing Database window: the selected database row marked 1 with its current version and saved date, and New Costing Database marked 2](https://help.shedmate.com.au/hubfs/Shedmate%20Guides/D-01__04-saving-costing-database__marked.png)

**If you already saved an older copy over a newer database,** don't save again. Email support@shedmate.com.au with the database name and the time you saved, and we will look at it with you.

### One thing that trips people up

Your quote doesn't tell you when your database moves ahead of it. If several people price jobs in your account, agree that whoever updates the database tells the team, so anyone with a live quote loads the latest version before sending.

Not sure whether a quote is affected? Email support@shedmate.com.au with the job number and we will check it with you.
