# How do I add shed drawings to a quote template?
## Add 3D views, floor plans and elevations to your Word quote template, then check the drawings before your team uses it.
Use a placeholder picture in your Word quote template, then put the drawing's exact name in the picture's **Alt Text description**. ShedMate replaces the placeholder with that shed's 3D view, floor plan or elevation when it generates the document.
### Prepare the picture in Word
Work on a copy of your current template so you can keep the original available.
1. Insert a placeholder picture where the drawing should appear, **outside any table**.
2. Make its frame square by setting equal height and width. Remove any existing crop as well. A rectangular frame can stretch the drawing, while cropping can hide edges and dimensions.
3. Open the picture's **Alt Text** settings. Depending on your Word version, this may be called **Edit Alt Text** or **View Alt Text**.
4. In the description, enter one exact name from the table below. If Word shows separate Title and Description fields, use **Description**. Replace any automatically generated description with the drawing name.
Both **In Line with Text** and floating pictures can work outside tables. Floating pictures give you more control over page placement. Keep enough space around each picture so drawings and text do not overlap.

### Choose the drawing
| Drawing | Alt Text description |
| --- | --- |
| 3D view | `ShedImage.view_3d` |
| Floor plan | `ShedImage.floor_plan` |
| Front elevation | `ShedImage.front_elevation` |
| Back elevation | `ShedImage.back_elevation` |
| Left elevation | `ShedImage.left_elevation` |
| Right elevation | `ShedImage.right_elevation` |

Copy the name exactly, including capitals, underscores and the full stop. Use the bare name only, without curly braces or extra description. Each picture has its own drawing name.
### Test the revised template
Ask your company admin to upload the revised copy under a separate test name. Keep the current template available until the copy has been checked.
1. Open a suitable test draft or job and choose **Instant Quoting**, then **Reports**.
2. On **Documents**, select the test template in **Quoting** and choose the required **Document Formats**.
3. Choose **Generate Documents**, then open the resulting file and check every drawing page.
*This combines two parts of the Instant Quoting screen: (1) Reports in the toolbar, and (2) the Documents tab below it.*
Generating documents creates a new quoting version. Use a test draft or job when checking template changes.
### Check the finished document
- **The placeholder still appears:** check the drawing name is in the picture's Alt Text description, with no braces, and that the picture is outside a table. Confirm you selected the revised template.
- **The drawing looks stretched or cut off:** check both the square frame and the crop settings. Changing only the frame size can leave an old crop in place.
- **The drawing is too small or overlaps text:** allow more page space for a square picture and check the result again. Do not crop away dimensions just to fit the page.
Check different shed sizes, including a near-square shed, before your team starts using the template. Review the final document before sending it to a customer.
